A New Wave Of Jazz

We proudly announce the re-launching our little A New Wave Of Jazz label.  It became logistically and budget-wise very difficult to continue the vinyl series so that after long debate we found a fine alternative to not only re-instate the artistic vision but also to guarantee our visual identity.  With the graceful help of designer Rutger Zuydervelt, who transformed the original visual concept into something really beautiful for the future to come, and critic Guy Peters, who masterfully writes the liner notes, we continue with releases on compact disc.  These are the two first ones & available for pre-order now through our bandcamp.

“Dirk Serries’ New Wave Of Jazz imprint kick-starts its new run of CD releases this month with a couple of real humdingers. Double Vortex is a blustery live summit capturing the provocative proclivities of John Dikeman (tenor sax), Colin Webster (alto and baritone sax), Serries (electric guitar) and Andrew Lisle (drums), plus guest saxophonist Alan Wilkinson, during an incendiary roustabout recorded at the Vortex Jazz Club on 8 February 2017. Serries ghosts up on Virgin As Innocent Wood, a more subdued set that sees him unpack his acoustic for a probing team-up with pianist Martina Verhoeven. The pair eke out an intriguing suite of minimalist musings, as influenced by Morton Feldman’s ornamental clusters as they are by the magisterial self-restraint of artists domiciled on the Another Timbre roster.” Jazzwise – UK
